House Fires At Cluculz Lake

Once again I'm reminded how grateful I am for all we have. Neighbours across the lake lost their summer home to a fire. A week later their next door neighbours' summer home also burned down.

I know it's difficult to spot, but the first house stood immediately left of the one burning where the light green fence is located and just below the blue-roofed house.

Coincidence?

  1. Hi Joylene,
This is a most graphic example of what destruction fire can cause.
How heart breaking for those that have lost their homes and the cherished memories within.
    Kind wishes, Gary.

  2. That is so true, Gary. Although it wasn't their primary home, there are still years of memories lost. Very sad indeed.

  3. You're right, Joylene. What are the odds? It sounds suspicious. Bad news for your neighbors.

  5. How awful!! Were the families home at the time? I can only imagine how devastating the lost must be.

    Seems a bit too coincidental.

  6. Hi Marta. No, both homes were vacant. One fire happened after 10 PM, and the other one started at 6 AM. Strange, eh?

  8. Hi Laura. I can't imagine it either and that's why I'm so grateful. I always double check everything at night and before we leave for town. But you just never know. It's frightening.

  9. Hi Joylene,

Just stumbled across this photo of our place on fire, I had never seen it before. It makes my stomach feel really weird. It was actually our neighbour to the left (looking at the photo) who lost his home the week before. I wish we knew what caused the fires but we probably never will. Thankfully there haven't been any more!

    1. We were all so upset for you, Irene. I still think the two houses being so close is very strange. Thankfully, none of you were there. Thanks for stopping by.

  10. Metro Kozma - November 10, 2014 (Victim #1)

    Hello Joylene:
Yes, I'm the first victim of the two fires on Meier Rd. E. Mine was reported just after 9:00pm according the the Asst. Fire Chief at Cluculz Lake, and not after 10 pm as mentioned elsewhere here. Then, as those others said - "It sounds suspicious" - "Seems a bit too coincidental" - "Strange, eh?" - "It's frightening" - "Very sad indeed". Yes, it was and still is! However, I do know that mine was deliberately set... a true case of Arson! Now, by whom?

Metro Kozma - (same as just above)
    Hi again Joylene:
Just another thought for comment. In talking about a strange coincidence, it makes one wonder who could have been so readilly available, out in a boat on the water, and darkness of night, to witness and capture BOTH fires on camera that week apart? Mine after 9 pm and the other about 6 am ? And then even post them to the Internet for us to see and have? I wish I could post the picture here of mine, but obviously I can't. It's on Facebook under my name, should anyone care to see it. I'd sure be interested to know who took and posted both of those pictures? Metro Kozma

    1. Could those pictures have possibly been taken by the same culprit who set the fires to both of these places???

  12. The 'suspense' of who took those pictures of those 2 places on fire, that week apart, in Aug, 2010, and placed them on the Internet, has not gone away? It's still there! Who is, or was, that person(s)?

  13. Too bad that the RCMP with all their abilities and technological means at their disposal haven't bothered to check out who did actually take those pictures of these places on fire, and then post them to the Internet??
