Cluculz Lake in October

Today I'd like to share some October photos and a link. In light of what's going on on the east coast, in no certain terms, I will NOT complain about our weather, or the fact I'm cold. I have a roof over my head, wood in the stove, the internet! But I do live in a beautiful place; and today feels like a good day to share my gratitude.

Now, because you are most undoubtedly a writer, here's a very important link that you owe it to yourself to check out.

 http://jakonrath.blogspot.ca/2012/01/value-of-publicity.html

If you're not a regularly follower of Joe Konrath, you should be. And if you read his post and you're wondering what's the point of networking on the WWW, remind yourself that writing is a lonely profession. Our Blogsphere is about offering support and encouragement. I've been saying this for a long time: writers write books, they don't buy them. Few of us can afford to buy every book from every author we meet online. Readers buy books.

Read what Joe has to say. He knows what he's talking about.

Peace and contentment to you all.

  1. Beautiful photo's, thanks for sharing. Yes, we do have much to be thankful for and despite or because of the last week, maybe more so.

You're right, writing is a solitary thing and writers do not buy books. I'm headed to Joe's site now.

Thanks again, have a wonderful weekend!

  2. Excellent photos!
And that's why I'm glad my followers are an eclectic bunch. I was told from day one I didn't want all writers and authors following me.

    1. Alex, you're special, and the stats don't cover you because YOU make the internet a better place for both readers and writers.

  5. Hi Joylene,

Of course, my human can vouch for just how beautiful the area you live in is. And your splendid photos are wondrous confirmation. Indeed, my human, Gary, has spent many a magical moment in the nature of BC.

Indeed, writing is about encouragement and support within a sharing, caring community. I understand that writers can lead a solitary life and the valuable information you share and Joe Konrath shares, are most enlightening.

May you have a lovely weekend in BC and try to stay warm, eh.

    In peace and pawsitivity, Penny

    1. Money has a way of making the heart softer. Haha, anyhoo, I know what you mean. I'm selective on some of his posts. But I do think he knows the business as well as anybody.

  8. Beautiful pictures, Joylene. What a change between 10-16 and 11-1 in that once scene off your deck, out over the lake.

    1. It rained hard lastnight, Keith, and now the snow is crunchy. But the swans are out in full force. Hope you have a great weekend, good buddy!

  14. I always love seeing pictures from your neck of the woods, Joylene. This time is no different. I just spent some time on a lake with my family, and it's incredible how therapeutic it is out there! I don't know how you get any work done with all that fresh air. It made us extremely slow and tired. :D I'm also on my way to check out that link. I love JA Konrath!

  15. Ooh, what gorgeous scenery from your back yard or is that from your front yard? I can almost feel a chill on the tip of my nose and tops of my ears.
Delightful for you to share such beauty and serenity with us.

    1. Front deck. Took me 20 years to figure out what I meant when I said backyard. Haha. Thanks, Janet.

  16. What gorgeous shots of your wonderful view, Joylene! I imagine you say the same thing I do: that I must have thousands of shots of that same lake view, but each one is unique. Those swans are magnificent, too.

I used to read Joe's blog regularly -- downloaded his WHISKEY SOUR when it was available back in January 2008 -- but not so much lately. Will check out this post.
