I'm very happy to do a shoutout for fellow author Shannon Lawrence. Her collection of short stories comes out today. Hope you'll check out her new book. And be sure to enter the raffle at the bottom of this post. Good luck.

Title: Blue Sludge Blues & Other Abominations
Author: Shannon Lawrence
Book Description: A collection of frights, from the psychological to the monstrous. These tales are a reminder of how much we have to fear: a creature lurking in the blue, sludgy depths of a rest area toilet; a friendly neighbor with a dark secret hidden in his basement; a woman with nothing more to lose hellbent on vengeance; a hike gone terribly wrong for three friends; a man cursed to clean up the bodies left behind by an inhuman force. These and other stories prowl the pages of this short story collection.
Release Date: March 15, 2018

Excerpt from The Tourist: "When the first light died, he pulled his leather briefcase closer to his leg. As he often found happening, almost without his will, his right hand slid inside, pressing deeper into its depths to feel the materials the bag hid. The leather of his gloves slid smoothly over the metal of the blades, the polished surface of the hilts."

Bio: A fan of all things fantastical and frightening, Shannon Lawrence writes primarily horror and fantasy. Her stories can be found in magazines and anthologies, including Space and Time Magazine, Dark Moon Digest, and Spinetingler. Though she often misses the ocean, the majestic and rugged Rockies are a sight she could never part with. Besides, in Colorado there's always a place to hide a body or birth a monster. What more could she ask for?

  1. Best of luck with your new book, Shannon.

    1. Thank you! I don't know how I missed responding to this. So sorry! I thought I'd gotten everyone.

  2. And now it's out for all the world to enjoy!

  3. Congrats on the release. Cheering for Shannon.

  4. She got a great artist to do her cover. Congrats to Shannon.

  5. Beautiful cover. Horror anthologies have always been a favorite of mine. The idea of something living in the drop hole of a rest area porta-potty is already making the hairs on my neck stand on end. Porta-potties are horrifying all on their own. Can't wait to read. :)

  6. Congratulations to Shannon! The cover is eye-catching!

  7. I really do like that cover. It's especially creepy :-)

  8. Oh. my! All the stories sound so creepy and scary!

  9. An embarrassingly late thank you to everyone for your responses! I got overwhelmed and dropped the ball. Thank you again to Joylene!

  10. This cover is eye-catching. And will certainly hook the readers!

  11. Hi, Joylene! I hope that you are doing well. Just thinking of you on IWSG Day, and I'm glad to know that you recently published a post. I mentioned you and your book "Matowak, Woman Who Cries" to a fellow IWSG member. She is a writer in Nelson, B.C. who was looking for tips on interviewing policemen for a book she is writing. I don't know if Anna (Emaginette) will contact you, but I thought I'd give you a heads up.
    Take care!

    1. I did correspond with Anna, Louise. Thanks for mentioning me to her. Best to you.
